Established on July 5, 1972, Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Berhad (CGC) is a vital link between financial institutions and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), offering guarantees for financing to unserved and underserved entrepreneurs.
Over the past 52 years, CGC has evolved from a traditional guarantor into a financially sustainable institution, with 78.6% ownership by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM). Key stakeholders include Financial Institutions (FIs) and Development Financial Institutions (DFIs). Through strategic partnerships with various industry players, CGC has launched initiatives like the Portfolio Guarantee (PG) and Wholesale Guarantee (WG) schemes, as well as tailored products designed to meet the growing needs of MSMEs.
CGC's significant impact includes issuing guarantees totaling over RM96.9 billion and providing direct financing amounting to RM2.7 billion, benefitting over 539,000 MSMEs, as of January 2025. In 2018, CGC embraced digitalisation by launching imSME, a one-stop digital financing platform that connects MSMEs with diverse financing options. CGC remains committed to supporting unserved and underserved MSMEs through its 16 branches strategically located across Malaysia.
