KLANG, 16 October – Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Berhad (CGC) brought sparkles of festive joy and cheers to 32 residents from Pusat Jagaan Sai Annai Illam, Pandamaran, Klang in conjunction with upcoming Deepavali celebration.

The Deepavali charity event is one of the annual Corporate Responsibility (CR) initiatives carried out by CGC with the purpose to reach out and spread festive kindness to those in need by providing them with their daily requirement, as well as a new experience in preparing themselves to welcome the festival of lights.

“CGC view the corporate responsibility initiative as an integral part of our corporate values and the focus of our effort is to help as many less fortunate Malaysian communities as possible,” said President and CEO Datuk Mohd Zamree Mohd Ishak, in his speech during the Deepavali Charity Dinner that was held at Klang on Thursday.

All 29 children, two elderly people as well as a single mother were all given RM250 each to buy their festive needs at the Aeon Jusco Bukit Tinggi, Klang. The wide smiles on their faces and eager little footsteps as they entered Aeon Jusco Shopping Mall brought warmth and joy to the CGC staff, who lent a helping hand in making the shopping spree as an exciting and enjoyable experience especially for the children of the orphanage.

The residents of the orphanage were later treated with a lavish dinner at the Premier Hotel, nearby the mall. During the dinner, the children were entertained with a fun-filled clown and magic show performances.

The children and the caretakers also received “pocket money” of RM50 and RM100.00 each respectively from CGC. The children were grinning ear to ear when they received their Deepavali money packets as this is the first time a corporate entity had done a CR program for them in conjunction with Deepavali. CGC also gave cash contribution of RM5,000.00 to the orphanage to ease their cost of operations.

CGC also organises similar CR programmes in conjunction with major festivals and celebrations in Malaysia such as Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Chinese New Year, Harvest and Gawai festivals; as well as, Christmas celebrations.

The festive mood was very much alive when the residents of the orphanage were treated with a shopping spree, sumptuous dinner and cash contributions.
