KUALA LUMPUR, 2 MARCH –Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Berhad (CGC) took the opportunity to organize a Chinese New Year treat for 50 children and caretakers of Rumah Charis (Home for the Children) in Kuala Lumpur recently.
The charity event brought joy and smiles to the children as they were all presented with ‘ang pao’, goodie bags as well as treated with dinner at their residence. CGC also contributed RM5,000 to Rumah Charis, in support of their noteworthy cause.
They were also treated with the popular Yee Sang dish where the entire residents and CGC staff joined in the tossing of the ingredients high in the air with joyful exclamations of ‘Loh Hey” (“toss high”). The significance of the tossing is to wish for abundant luck and happiness for all.
“We are honoured to organize today’s Chinese New Year celebration for the children of Rumah Charis. Initiative such as this is significant in bringing about awareness on the importance of caring for the underprivileged children amongst CGC staff and also to enrich as well as to create a better future for the children of this home,” said CGC’s President/CEO Datuk Mohd Zamree Mohd Ishak.
This charity programme falls under CGC’s annual corporate responsibility initiative to reach out and help the community in need.
